Here is a list of our favorite places for our monthly drives and events.

HADDAM MEADOWS STATE PARK, Route 154, Haddam, CT

From the North: off I-91 south, take a left, Exit 22S onto Route 9. Take Exit 10 off Route 9 to end of ramp, right on Route 154. Follow Route 154 4.5 miles, and Haddam Meadow State Park is on the left.

From the South: take I-95, then take Exit 69 onto Route 9 north to Exit 7, merge onto Route 82. At light left onto Route 154. Follow Route 154 3.4 miles and Haddam Meadow State Park is on the right.

From the East: off I-395, take Exit 80 onto Route 82 West. Follow Route 82 over the drawbridge in East Haddam. Take a right onto Route 154. Follow Route 154 north 3.4 miles and Haddam Meadow State Park will be on the right.

Chatfield Hollow
Directions:
From Route 9: take Exit 9. Follow Route 81 south to Route 80 west and watch for park entrance signs.
From I-95 (Connecticut Turnpike): take Exit 63. Follow Route 81 north to Route 80 west.

Cockaponsett State Forest, Haddam --15,652 acres
Nice scenic carriage roads. Be sure to drive with someone who knows the park, or bring a really good map! As with any public park watch for motorized vehicles. Although you don't see them often, they do occassionally appear.

Directions: Cockaponsett State Forest, Haddam, Connecticut
From North: I-91 South to Route 9 South, to Exit 6 (Chester). Take a right onto Route 148 and follow about 2 miles until you see Cedar Lake on your right. Take that right after the lake, Cedar Lake Road. Follow Cedar Lake Road and follow the first State Park sign (turn left ) Even though it's technically an "out" -- it's a short hop for large trailers. At the stop, turn left again and drive a short distance past Pattaconk Reservoir to the parking areas (there's one on the left and one on the right -- you can use either one).You'll now be at the Southern end of Cockaponsett.

From the South -- Follow I-95 South (from I-395 or Lyme area) and merge onto Route 9 North. Take Exit 6 (Chester). Take a left onto Route 148 and follow about 2 miles until you see Cedar Lake on your right. Take that right after the lake, Cedar Lake Road. Follow Cedar Lake Road and follow the first State Park sign (turn left ) Even though it's technically an "out" -- it's a short hop for large trailers. You'll now be at the Southern end of Cockaponsett.

Pachaug State Forest - 22,938 acres Voluntown
Over the rocky landscape, many miles of roads and trails are available for the hiker, snowmobiler, motorcyclist, and equestrian. Two separate camping areas offer nearby pond swimming; no camping reservations are needed. In addition to its recreational value, the forest contains a rare rhododendron sanctuary and southern white cedar swamps which are of interest to the botanist.

Lord Creek, Lyme, CT (Call ahead for permission, with exception of planned events)

From I-95 South: Exit 70, at end of ramp go straight through intersection.
At 3rd light turn right onto Rt. 156. Go north 2.6 miles. Farm on left.

From 1-95 North: Exit 70, turn left at end of ramp onto Rt. 156, go north 2.6 miles. Farm
on left.

From Route 11: Follow Rt. 11 to end. Go right at end of ramp onto Rt. 82, at
intersection with Rt. 156 go left. Follow Rt. 156 for 6 miles. Farm on right.

Hammonassett Beach, Madison, CT

Directions to Mitchell Farm, Salem, CT

Mitchell Farm is located in Salem, Ct. From Route 2 in Colchester, pick up Route 11 South and drive to the end of the highway. Take a right at the end of the ramp. Mitchell Farm is 1/4 mile on your right. From Route 9 take exit #7. This puts you on Route 82. Follow all the signs for Route 82. This means you will go over the East Haddam bridge, go through East Haddam, go up, out of the Connecticut River valley to a stop sign, turn right and follow Route 82 for 3 to 4 miles to a stop light. Turn left at that light (staying on Route 82) and drive another (approximately) 6 miles. You will see the signs for Mitchell farm on your left. If you pass Route 11, you have gone too far, turn around and look for the farm again about 1/4 mile on your right.

From Route 95, take exit # 70, turn onto Route 156 North and go 8 to 10 miles to the end. Turn right onto Route 82. Go about 4 miles. Mitchell farm will be on your left just before you get to Route 11. If you pass Route 11, turn around and go 1/4 mile. Mitchell farm will be on your right. Their phone # is 860-886-6767


Cones Farm, East Haddam, CT
From Route 9, take exit # 7
Follow Route 82 towards and through East Haddam, CT. That is- exit Route 9, go 2 miles, turn left at the blinking red light, turn right at the first stop light, go over the East Haddam bridge and, still on Route 82, go up the hill (out of the Connecticut River valley) for 2 miles until you come to a stop sign (where you must turn). Turn left onto Route 151. Pass the East Haddam Fire Station and then the East Haddam Grange. (Both on your right) Turn right at the first yellow caution light you come to. You have just turned onto East Haddam- Colchester Tpk. Go for 2 miles. Go over the Moodus reservoir. Cone's farm will be on your right 1/4 mile past the reservoir. Park in the field on your left.

From Route 2, take exit #16
From the exit ramp take Route 149 South to the stop light at Route 16. Cross over Route 16 and go for approximately 3 miles. Go down Sipple Hill (there is a sign) and take a left onto Mott Lane. (Do not pass by the Moodus Reservoir) Take Mott Lane to the end. Turn right, and you are at Cone's farm. Park in the field on your right.
