The Connecticut Valley Driving Club (CVDC)
is a network of horse people with varied interests and experience,
joining together for support, educational programs, clinics,
monthly drive/rides, special events, equine advocacy, trail
preservation, and social activities. Club members meet every
month for a Saturday potluck, evening meeting and special program.
The Sunday after our meetings we host member drives at different
locations around scenic Eastern Connecticut. Riders are always
welcome at the drives, as are new members and guests.
Every
year, we host special events such as a spring CT Valley Driving
Trial, and a Drive/Ride Pace at Lyme's Lord Creek. Some of our
club members compete throughout the Northeast at Pleasure Shows
and Combined Driving Events. Others enjoy sleigh rallies, or
travel together to big shows as spectators. We even have a club
member, Norm Krohn, who drove a chariot at Equine Affair with
his pair of Fresians. One of our most famous members is former
CVDC president, Pamela
Pruitt. Among her many accomplishments, Pam, driving Cristal
Belle Joy, won the 2000 AHSA National Single Horse Driving Championship
held at the Fair Hill International CDE in Elkton, MD.
CVDC is very family oriented and welcomes all ages and driving
disciplines. Club members receive a monthly newsletter. We
are always looking for new members who are interested in driving.
One does not have to know how to drive to belong, nor even
own a horse. It is a friendly atmosphere, and fun place to
meet others with the same interests. Come for the great food,
stay for the meeting and try us out! You'll be glad you did.
