CVDC Mother’s Day (Saturday) Drive Planned!
UPDATE: Sat. morning, May 9th: Rain appears to be clearing out of RI between 10-11 for today’s drive and ride. We’re still on, where just going to push everything by around an hour to an hour and a half when the rain is expected to stop. Contact is Andree, at cell 860-395-7283.

This SATURDAY, come ride and drive with us to celebrate Mother’s Day. Club members will meet just over the CT line at Rhode Island’s “Arcadia Management Area: LaGrande Reynolds Horsemen’s Area” — between 9 and 10 am and drive out at will alone or in small groups. Robin Malkasian has pre-scouted and will mark a nice 6.5 mile routes. For a shorter ride or drive, simply back-track. She says it is scenic enough to see twice.
The drive will be followed by a Mother’s Day Potluck Picnic. Bring chairs and food! This is a lovely place to drive and a perfect time of year. Mothers of children and animals, be sure to wear a flower or decorate your carriage or equine.
CVDC 6.5 Loop Description:
Right out of horse camp onto paved road for 1/3 mile.
LEFT on Austin Farm Road,by red log cabin
RIGHT on Barber Road
LEFT over bridge
LEFT on Brook Trail
Left on Austin Farm Road … back to camp.

Directions:
From Route 395 heading Northbound
Get off at Exit 85. Continue through stop sign (crossing Route 164) and stay straight to next intersection. Turn right onto Route 138 (South and East direction) and travel 7.5 miles. and bear onto Beach Pond Road/ CT-Route 165. Travel around 4.5 miles and turn LEFT onto Escoheag Hill Road and travel 1.5 to 2 miles to to LaGrande Reynolds Horsemen’s Area on the left. We will be having lunch in the pavillion, so park with walking distance of that. (Once you’re on Route 165 and cross the RI border, you will go up a hill, and then level out, and then go down a hill. Escoheag Hill Road comes up fast on the left — so know that you’ll see a horse farm on the right, and then a sign for Stepping Stone Farm and then the road will be there on the left).
